Update the DVLA and your insurer. Your address affects official records and can also change the insurance risk and premium.
The driving licence and V5C are separate records
Changing the address on your licence does not automatically change the address on the vehicle log book. Deal with both where required.
Tell the insurer about the new overnight location
A different postcode, parking arrangement or commuting pattern can alter the premium. do not keep the old address on the policy because it was cheaper.
Do it when the move happens
Insurance policies normally require material changes to be reported. Check the policy rather than waiting until renewal.
Moving from a parent's home to another address can change premiums sharply. If you know a move is coming, it can be useful to compare likely prices before buying the car.
