A slow puncture, leaking valve, damaged wheel or poor seal around the rim are common reasons. Repeatedly topping it up is not a proper repair.
Look for a pattern
If one tyre loses several psi while the others stay stable, something is probably leaking. Cold weather can lower all pressures, but one tyre behaving differently deserves attention.
Do not ignore a nail because the tyre still holds air
A puncture may be repairable depending on its location and condition. Driving on an under-inflated tyre can turn a simple repair into a ruined tyre.
Check the wheel after kerb or pothole hits
A bent or corroded rim can also leak. Tell the tyre fitter about any recent impact.
Tyres are ordinary maintenance, but damage caused in an incident can be different. If another part of the car is damaged too, check whether insurance is relevant.
