How Do You Deal with Friends Distracting You While You Drive?

Set the rule before the journey becomes difficult: when you need quiet, say so. You are responsible for the car even if somebody else is creating the distraction.

Passengers change the atmosphere

A journey that feels easy alone can become noisy with three friends talking, choosing music and commenting on your driving. New drivers have less spare attention because many tasks are not yet automatic.

Use plain words

there is no need for a speech. 'Give me a minute, I need to concentrate here' is enough. Good passengers will understand.

Do not perform for the car

Avoid showing off, racing away from lights or taking a bend faster because somebody is watching. The person encouraging it will not receive your penalty points.

If friends will regularly use the car too, do not assume your policy covers them. Check the policy and insure each driver correctly.
