Yes, if the insurance arrangement covers them. Ownership of the car and permission from you do not create insurance cover on their own.
They may be named on your policy
Adding an experienced parent as a genuine additional driver can sometimes be useful, especially if they will actually use the car. The insurer needs an accurate picture of who drives it.
Do not reverse the main driver
If the car is really yours and you are the main user, do not describe a parent as the main driver merely to seek a cheaper premium. The policy should reflect reality.
Their own policy may or may not help
Some comprehensive policies include limited driving-other-cars cover, but the terms vary. Check rather than assume.
If a parent will genuinely share the car, compare quotations with the arrangement described truthfully; different insurers can price it very differently.
